I have another baby that I haven't ever told you about. She's such a sweetie, her name is Suzie. I bet that got you all thinking.....Sorry but it's true. She came to live with me not long after I arrived here in the US. I met her at a church fete and she's so quite I hardly ever notice she's here. In fact she's so quiet I had completely forgotten about her until this evening. I'm sure you've guessed by now I'm not talking about a poor abandoned child, but a sewing machine. I picked this little beauty up at a church fete a few years ago for the huge sum of $30. Every now and then I'll pull her out and work on her, getting her into condition ready to use. This evening as I was thinking about how I was going to quilt Jenna's quilt, I remembered Suzie sitting in the back porch cupboard/closet. As she's so heavy I got DH to get her out for me before he went to bed, threaded her up and had a little practise on her. Oh my gosh she machine quilts so beautifully. She reminds me of my Suzie from Australia that I had to leave in Jenna's care, another Singer. Her stitches are even, and each stitch is the same size as the previous one, she just purrs along.

So here she is, isn't she lovely, a Singer Red Eye.
I'd say from her wear she's been a faithful friend to her previous owner, who I understand was an elderly lady.
She's all threaded ready to hum along tomorrow on Jenna's quilt.
Thanks for all your kind thoughts and comments on my DH, I'm sure you ALL heard me as I let out a very loud YAHOOOO when he came home from the doctor with a medical release to go back to work tomorrow, peace will once more reign in my house...lol.....
Happy Stitching, and please keep your ideas for the table coming, they are all great.

Suzie is sooooo beautiful. It's a treasure. I inherited one from my grandmother when I was a child, but I did not bring it with me when I moved. And when my uncle died and I was going to get it, it was gone. Another of my cousins had taken it home. But they did not know it was mine, and my uncle probably didn't remember it. Sad.
Wow $30! What a deal. It really is beautiful. You know how I feel about machines, or probably more how they feel about me ;) but that one I think I could make friends with!
Beautiful machine - I love it that your guy realizes your passion for old sewing machines. I haven't got there with Don... it's old stuff to him...- Prayers answered for your husband (and You). It's hard on those guys being underfoot. How's the weather been in your area?
Suzie is gorgeous! Isn't it amazing how beautiful a stitch some of the old machines make. With TLC Suzie will probably last forever just purring along.
Guess hubbie kinda redeemed himself for being underfoot by lifting that heavy machine for you :-)
Suzie is a lovely gal. You two are going to have lots and lots of good times together *s*
What a beauty! They just don't make them like this any more.
I had an old treadle Singer in a cabinet but had to sell it when I downsized prior to leaving UK.
I've seen a few machines similar to yours here in Spain but not for such a good price!
Wow Suzie is beautiful.
Think that I live in a house built where many years ago there was the Singer and perhaps your machine was born here.
The angels you have finished are wonderful.
ciao ciao
My mother had one which my grandmother (father´s mother) had owned, it always had such a fine even stitches. Your Suzie is beautiful.
Suzie is beautiful and what an incredible find, Linda! I learned to sew on my Grandmother's treadle so I know how much you're enjoying Suzie.
I'm glad that your DH is better and will be back at work tomorrow.
Suzie is wonderful and she only cost $30?? What a deal she was. Thanks for sharing her with us.
Oh, I love her!! I have been searching for the perfect one to save(in a cabinet) for years! Well done, Tracey
I cannot believe that you only paid $30 for such a beautiful machine!! I bet she stitches like a dream! Those old machines will last forever and ever, I think!
