I'm sure I'm not the only person who has some sort of routine to their day. My day usually starts with a cup of tea after a stop via the bathroom. While the kettle is boiling the PC is booting up. With tea made I stumbled to the PC eyes half open, trying to avoid all the boxes on the living room floor, still thinking about how comfy that bed is. First thing is to check my email and next is check my feeds to see who has posted to their blog. I love to see what everyone has been up to while I've been sleeping. I didn't think that today was going to be any different than any other day....... but then I heard this odd sound, it was like a tin can popping. Maybe I wasn't awake enough, oh well.....but then it continued. Where on earth was this noise coming from? Then I looked under the PC desk, oh my gosh. All I can say is I'm glad I had already visited the bathroom. This is what I found under the desk, in the corner.
Isn't it disgusting? I'm sure you can imagine my reaction. As my sweetie had already left for work in the wee small hours of the morning, I had to be brave and remove this creature all by myself. Hmmm what to use, without actually touching it, the broom. Now you need to know that having lived in Queensland where cane toads are as common as wheels on a bicycle, I'm used to seeing ugly toads, but NOT in my living room. I'd like to know how it managed to get inside, we don't have huge gaping areas under our doors. If the dogs brought it in I would have seen it dismembered across the living room floor. So this just goes to show that although we may have our routines there are ways of that routine being disrupted without any forewarning.
Have any of you had something similar to this happen to you?
Time to go and fill some more boxes and wash some more quilts.
Happy Stitching.

Wow I have never had that happen. How interesting. LOL.
Ugh! I don't like toads or frogs or any creepy thing really.
I bet Charlotte and Zachary would just love it though.
How brave you were to deal with it yourself. Me - I'd have run screaming for the hills LOL.
Margaret
HA! Margaret is right. Charlotte and Zach would love it, and like I said on hte phone, so would I. I really like toads! They have a sad quality about them that makes them endearing. Now I could do without the wolf spider the kids have named Norman in the backyard.
Brave you to get rid of that ugly creature all by yourself!!! Give yourself a pat on the back from me :o)
But aren't you happy this happened as you are moving OUT of the house? I think I really would have gotten second thoughts if it showed up in a house I was moving IN to...!
ARGGHH ! I'd have fell in a heap -honestly. I could have coped with a spider but not old Toady..Yak !
Linda, I'm catching up on blogs after a couple days away. I love your middle name meme of yesterday. Thank you so much for sharing it.
As for your blog frog...ewwww! I keep an eye on the lizards here. I don't mind the critters outside; just don't want 'em in the house. :-)
Happy moving!

Once, when I was young, a huge rat made its' way into our home and was found in the baby's crib. My Mom had picked my sister up to feed her and Dad saw something funny in her crib shortly after. It was an ugly scene and Dad had to dispose of it rather quickly before we all saw the remains. I would rather have a toad anyday. I, too have routines that are done upon waking .... like checking my emails and responding and sitemeter and then gradually reading blogs and .....so on.
We have a pet frog, and hes just a tiny thing....if he ever got out of the tank id run for the hills lol Ur braver than me!!!
I can't even handle spiders, I don't know what I would do with a frog! It would be funny to see my cat with a frog in his house though. At least the frog didn't get packed away.
I'm sure that was quite a shocker first thing in the morning! I have a similar morning routine except I have coffee and hubby usually has it already brewed since he gets up before me most days.
I hate it when I find critters in the house and I'm the only one home!
Just one word - ICK!
What an exciting start to the day. Shame it wasn't a cute little frog.
You are a very brave woman, I don´t know what I would have done.
In my present state of mind that would have probably sent me over the edge....with my bent glasses that is!
Eeek, although, I can think of worse things to have to handle than a toad. But I'd probably say ick, ick, ick the entire time with a toad too.
Good luck with all of the packing and washing!
Your morning routine sounds something like mine. And I feel the same way about a mouse in the house...eek!
ciao,
finally I can put a comment.........
Your day begins like mine, some biscuits while looking at the mails and then a cup of coffee and shopping at the drugstore, cleanings, and so on....
I like frogs because many years ago putting a rock in a river I broke a leg of a little frog... I was so sad about that and now I love them.
Oo, Linda...you are a brave woman!
If this would happen to me I start running, shut the door and didn't come back until the ugly creature was gone!
All I can say is you are one brave woman.....double ick!!!!
Seeing that toad first thing in the morning would definitely get my attention and I'd be wide awake in no time. That's no small feat as I'm not a morning gal. LOL
What a shocker that must have been! I haven't been surprised with a frog or toad, but I did have a similar situation with a snake in my living room. Did I mention I'm terrified of snakes?
