Autumn Dreams

What a pretty name for a quilt, it brings images of beautiful coloured falling leaves, still rivers, and lazy days laying under one of these trees looking up towards heaven. That's the name of the quilt that I hope to make a start on once I've finished the machine quilting on my Lasting Friendship quilt.

I've been trying to think what the appeal of this quilt is for me, and then I realised what it was. When I came to the US for the first time in 2003 to meet my "sweetie" it was Autumn and all the trees where changing colour, from their usual greens to the most beautiful shades of reds to burgundies, oranges to rusts and the most amazing shade of purple I think I've ever seen in leaves. Although Canberra (Australia's capitol) does go through the change of seasons, I had never seen colours like these before. It got me to thinking, what a beautiful artist God is, He uses His creation as a canvas for us to enjoy. I adore Autumn, for this very reason.

What is it about Autumn that you love?

My favorite season....Besides the colors... the smells outside, the crunch of leaves when you walk. The cool nights that let you "cozy up" inside under quilts and yet autumn still warms up the days for a porch swing.... and the list goes on and on....

That is a beautiful quilt. I really like the coolness from the sweltering heat from summer- not too hot, not too cold- and I like raking and playing in the leaves, and just looking at the beautiful colors.

Oooh lots of stuff!! I like the crispness in the air every evening and early morning. I LOVE the smell of the furnace the first time you turn it on in the fall. (strange, I know it is burning dust)and of course the colors.
The quilt is beautiful. Are you buying fabrics or using scraps?

Your new project is wonderful. Autumn brings new beginnings and family gatherings by a cozy fire. Love the colours that come with fall.

The quilt you plan on making is beautiful.
Autumn is not so evident here in Spain as it was in UK but I love the colours of Autumn, blackberries, pumpkins and all the lovely different shapes and sizes of squash, misty mornings, and getting back to comfort food because it was too hot in summer.

My love of autumn goes back to when I was in elementary school. I always loved school and could hardly wait until the new school year started (always the day after Labor Day). I loved everything that went with the beginning of school, new school supplies, new school clothes, and soon the cool weather and the crisp days and falling leaves, and apples & pumpkins. All these years later, my mind has rolled all these memories into one: autumn, it still is my favorite time of year.

What I love about the autumn are the blueberries, the only time of the year we get them here.

Linda, I love that quilt. It is so pretty. I love Fall. It's got to be my favorite time of year. Not too cold and not too hot.

My two favourite seasons are Autumn and Spring. What I miss about Autumn in the UK these days is that it never seems to be so cold and crisp but full of bright sunshine as I remember from years ago - maybe it's my memory, maybe it's global warming, I don't know but I long for cold crisp days that really signify the season for me.

That quilt is just lovely -- and I think, like you, I am in love with the colors of the season. I lvoe the variety and the way the light shines through.
