These little sweeties have kept me busy for the past few days. Kim very kindly sent me the pattern for these little treasures and many emails went back and forth between us about the making of them. We were talking about how to make them stand well by themselves and she mentioned whether quilting their dress would help. It does. I've tweaked the pattern a little more and added just a little four patch band through the skirt which I quilted and added an extra tulle petticoat. The directions called for the use of a lot of hot glue, which I'm not fond of, so in most of the places where glue was called for I chose to use a needle and thread. These would normally only take a couple of hours from start to finish, but because I can never leave a pattern alone and just follow the directions, they ended up taking almost a whole day per angel. So now they're ready to be boxed up and sent to their new homes. I've also been making other gifties, but that's not quite finished yet. I did manage to get these blocks done. (Blurry photo)
Colours I normally wouldn't use, but I thought it was time to stretch myself. So hopefully I can get them put into rows and get the border put on them today. I'm using Kimberly's quilt pattern "Sassy Sixteen", such an easy pattern to use and well written.
It's amazing how different things look in the light of day. Yesterdays ice storm was pretty to look at, although as I've mentioned, I'd much rather have snow, apart from the point of being able to stay on my feet when walking through it, it doesn't seem to leave so much damage behind.

If you click to enlarge the photo to the left you'll see our telephone line laying on the ground weaved through the tree branch, how we still have a dial tone is amazing. Our backyard looks more like the toddler pool at the local swimming centre. Only one in three homes throughout Oklahoma have power, we are extremely blessed to be one of them. Many will be without power for up to 10 days. According to the news report last night Oklahoma has been declared a disaster area, there are trees down just about everywhere, schools closed, business's closed due to no electricity, and lives lost on the road. So I think today is a good day to mention my blessings.
We have power, a phone service and heating to keep us warm.
Christmas gifts completed.
Happy Stitching and thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Those angels are so cute :)
Wow, what a disaster for a lot of families, glad you came through oké! The angels are looking beautiful Linda!
Your choir of angels are beautiful! So sweet! I'm glad you still have power - I feel for those who don't have heat this time of year.
Such sweet little angels :)
I'd seen some headlines about ice storms in Oaklahoma and had been thinking about you.
I'm glad you are safe and that you have power to keep on sewing!
Stay safe.
So glad to hear you are safe warm! Ice is not my favorite thing either. Now I'm wondering how my distant relatives have fared. I have so many scattered across OK and the surrounding states, many of whom I have never met. Large families beget large families beget large....
The angels are sweet. I'm impressed that they stand without the help of styrofoam or bottles or crumpled tissue, et al!
Safe and Merry Christmas to you and your family, far and near!

Your angels are too cute!! I am glad to hear you are warm and with power. We are getting hit with the ice this evening!
Your angels are adorable. I'm glad you didn't get any damage from the storms. We're having sleet tonight with snow on Thursday and more snow on Sunday into Monday.
Those angels are so cute. My hairdresser has a tree set up in her beauty parlor covered in angels. Although they are pretty, they cannot compete with your homemade angels.
So glad you still have power. After seeing all those icy pictures, its a wonder that you can still blog...
We are hearing and seeing a lot about your ice storm on our news channels up here. We've been through this sort of thing. Takes a long time for communities to get back on their feet after natural disasters like this. I am so glad to hear that you are very comfy and safe at home. Great job rebuilding those angels! They are precious and I am happy to see that they have heads full of pretty, curly hair. And some pretty lace collars too.
Love the angels! I would love to have the pattern! That ice is nasty. We got plenty of it here in missouri to but not like poor Oklahoma!
Those angels are so cute!
Glad to hear you have power and heat. People all around us in my area of MO have no power and it is so cold. Fortunately, we only had light icing and I too have power and heat.
I am so happy you are OK. Love your angels, they are adorable!
I love your angels' faces and hair. Is the hair sewn into the seam?
You are very fortunate, I'm glad the storm hasn't harmed your household.
Glad to hear you still have phone and power . . . stay warm. The projects you are working on will pass time until the storm has passed.
Those angels are darling Linda! I guess eastern KS had major power outages. You and I are lucky ones!
I like your choire of angels!!
Your angels turned out darling! Nice job! Whoever they're going to watch over will love them.
Glad you are safe, warm and have power. We didn't get hit nearly as badly as we were supposed to -- another blessing to count!
Angels are precious and I can't wait to see your quilt. So glad you still have power!
The angels are adorable - they make me want to sing!!
I'm glad you made it through the storm safely and with your power intact. Take care!
Those angels are adorable, so cute. Brrr it looks cold at your place.
Glad you are ok. These winter storms have been really bad and it's not even winter yet really is it??
