Back From The Show

I'm sure the first thing you're all wondering is, if I came home with a new sewing machine. No, unfortunately I didn't, you had to be present to be able to win it, and I don't think I could have talked my "sweetie" into spending from 11 am until 4 pm in a convention centre full of women and quilts....
I had a lovely time looking at all the beautiful fabrics and all the different notions and gadgets and patterns, but I was well behaved. I even surprise myself. This is all I came home with.
Two sizes of quilt clips to hold all the extra while I machine quilt, a spool of silk thread for hand applique, some press bars for vines, again for applique and a small pkt of glass head pins and a pkt of the most nifty pins I've ever seen. Clover fork pins. I've come to the conclusion that I must live in a world of my own or perhaps under a mushroom. I'm sure most of you have seen these pins before, but I was fascinated. See I live a sheltered life.....lol.... Plus I decided I was happy with what I had at home.

I did collect a few business cards so I could shop in the comfort of my own home and a comfy chair. I found this sweet quilt (terrible photo) hanging on the side of a wall and took a quick pic, after asking if they had the pattern. Oh no was the reply, but we do have the kit, it's only $199.00.... ouch, no thanks I'll make up my own pattern. I wasn't rude enough to say that, but that's what I thought.

These two quilts got my attention out of the many that were there, not quite sure why, maybe it was the colour, or maybe because these seemed to be the only two that hung straight.

It was so nice to get back to the car and sit, poor dh I'm sure his arm must have felt six feet long after having me leaning on it for so long. I don't know how you girls do these big quilt shows.
Happy Stitching.

I have never heard of fork pins. You need to show a picture of them. I too love the 2 quilts you showed. I think it must be the colors, or the contrast with all the white. Those quilt shows are hard on the best of us!!!

The quilts that you show are very pretty, and I can understand you not wanting to by a kit when you are only looking a pattern. Sometime they is so much to see at a quilt show that I end up not buying much.

Ouch indeed! That's quite a price for a kit -- like you, I just wouldn't be able to do it. When I see kits like that, I always wonder who buys them -- maybe people who have small stashes? Glad you had a good time -- sorry you didn't get a machine LOL!

Love those quilts. I'm sure you could research and find that pattern. I'll see if it's at the quilt show I'm going to.

I used to love going to quilt shows in UK just to admire all the beautiful quilts.
Glad you had such an enjoyable day out. I have to say you were very restrained in the shopping department!

Maybe you can find that pattern somewhere else without having to buy it with a kit. It's really cute. The quilt shows take a toll, but they are so worth it to me. My sister, Connie and I have shared so many wonderful times together at shows. You showed great restraint in with your purchases.

I love the last quilt you posted. I am a big fan of 30's prints and from the picture it looks like that, were they?? Lovely!

Quilt show sounded great. I'm going to one next month - can't wait. Love those two quilts you showed - the blocks really stand out with those light backgrounds.
