Squishy Mail, Applique

Thank you for all the lovely birthday messages you left for me yesterday. I'm not sure if I should thank Nancy for running the little competition for guessing my age though...lol.. Although there was only one who guessed it right, everyone else made me feel so young, especially Angela . I had a very quiet day, just the pooch and I, spent doing a little gentle applique, and when my "sweetie" came home, he took me out for a lovely seafood dinner.

I finished the first applique cornerstone for the border of the latest quilt. I don't think this is going to be a quick process, but I'm fairly happy with how it turned out, considering it's my first attempt at applique, except for the usual heart practise.

Remember I said I had a nice postman? He came today with another lovely parcel, all the way from Australia.

Two lovely parcels wrapped in fat quarters. A few weeks ago I was asking about kitchen tea towels and Peg very sweetly offered to send me some lovely Aussie tea towels. Well that parcel arrived today, and look what was inside.
Half a dozen lovely tea towels, 2 Aussie magazines and a couple of extremely cute buttonhole applique quilt patterns. Thank you so much Peg, what a treasure you are.

Happy Stitching, and thank you for stopping by to visit with me.

That applique is beautiful! I'm using some of my birthday money to sign up for a hand applique class in February -- not sure I have the courage for anything big, but I'm going to try!

As for making you feel young -- as my daughter has taken to saying -- aww, shucks!

Sorry I missed your birthday - no computer at home and didn't work. Happy Birthday!

I love your applique, Linda. When I took my sampler class last fall, my favorite block was the applique. I dreaded it because I thought it would be my least favorite. Now I can't wait to do more!
