Graduation Day, Winner, Books

I can't believe that I'm up so early, that's what power serge's will do for you, wake you up from a deep sleep. Before I forget, because my brain is mush at the moment I wanted to draw the winner from the Pass the Blessings post. I used a random number generator and it very kindly chose # 15 Janet. Janet if you could email me your postal details I can get the parcel into tomorrows post.
Thank you for telling me what your "can't do without" book is, there's many for me to check out. Along with the pincushion book that I showed previously these are what arrived in my mail box last week. The Quilter's Edge is one that has my interest, if I can find the time to sit down and read it. I tend to go with plain and boring, when it comes to borders, so I thought this book would be a good addition and perhaps open up the possibilities for different finishes. Bits and Pieces caught my eye when I saw it was "little" quilts, and the Fast Quilts, well it just looked good, and Sew Pretty Homestyle was one I've had on my wish list for some time. So those are my purchases and I'm hoping they'll keep me busy and provide plenty of inspiration.
Today is graduation day for Hollie, I spoke with her last night and she's just so excited about the idea of leaving Cookson Hills. It's been a long and sometimes hard road for her to walk, but even she will tell you that it's where she needed to be. If I didn't see the transformation with my own eyes, I wouldn't have thought it possible, but nothing is impossible for God. I can't believe that my baby is 18 and graduating high school and preparing for college. Anyway before I get too soppy I'll share the photo's of the gifts I made for her graduating friends. Hollie requested that I make them each a bag. I decided to add a covered note book to pop in the bag. The pattern is the desk deli, a very quick and easy pattern to follow and could easily be enlarged.
Before we head off to school we need to take this little bundle to the vet and leave her for an overnight stay, get dh's hair cut, pick up graduation cards and fill up with fuel.

Happy Stitching, and thank you for taking the time to stop and visit with me.
