Bits and Pieces

What a lovely day I had yesterday. Karen came over and picked me up and we headed out for lunch. We went to a lovely cafe/deli not far from home, and oh what a delicious lunch it was. Lots of chatter (I think I stopped to take a breath) and giggles. Thank you Karen for such a lovely day. Then on to Hancocks for a little shopping. I decided to join in on Amandajean's star quilt-a-long and needed more fabrics, surprise, surprise. I decided on pinks, as just about every quilt I own is done in a strong colour, so it was time for something softer and more feminine. This is what came home with me to go with the three blocks I made the day before yesterday.
(If you click on the photo, you'll get a better view) Along with these blocks I've been working on Luke's quilt. All the blocks are put together into rows and now I'm joining the rows. A little slower than I expected as it's quilt as you go.
Last night I made a start on my pincushion. I still haven't decided if it's what I'll send to my partner, today's results will determine that. I received the first photo from one of the swappers yesterday, and what a beauty it is.
Karen has a lovely pattern she's going to share with me that I'm hoping will work for the summer 4SQS, so I'll need to make a start on that as well. So plenty to keep me busy and out of mischief.

Happy Stitching, and thank you for visiting with me.

What lovely pink and white blocks! I typically use darker colors as are in Civil War fabrics but it's nice to branch out once in a while. I'm narrowing down my pincushion choices and am glad to know that I'm not the only one who hasn't made one yet!

Those blocks are so delicate. I wonder if you are using foundation patching?

Bet you went to Benedict Station to eat...I enjoy the sandwiches there.

The white and pink blocks will be outstanding in the finished quilt.

The black and white has turned out to look so modern and manly...don't know if that is a good decription for a quilt or not...but you know what I mean.

I love Luke's black and white quilt. I am getting a great idea for a new quilt for one of our sons. His favorite colour. Black and white of course.

God bless.

Nice pink blocks. And I like the quilt your working on. Reminds me of one I started for my son years ago.

Hi Linda
Thanks for de-lurking! I was hoping you would be one with ideas. Hexagon is the word I couldn't think of. I have looked for it at a couple of places (Joann's and Hancock's)but haven't been to my quilt shop yet. The only time I really have to go there is on Sunday and they aren't open then. I guess I will have to make a special trip over to get one.

I've just been lurking a lot myself lately.
I bought some black white and red recently myself.
My oldest grandson picked those colors for his room a year or so ago and I made him an afghan
or as he called it "a crochet" last year.
I thought the fabrics I picked were a little too girly though and now my oldest granddaughter has decorated her new room in those colors. I have been watching the progress on Luke's quilt closely.
I'm loving your stars too!qtmtyfv

I love this black quilt. It looks so refined and great! I love black...if I didn't have a blonde dog...I'd do more black in my bedroom. :)
