As you know Australia has been going through some record breaking heat wave temperatures, in some areas reaching 111 degrees F. A friend of mine sent me these photo's from Australia today, and I thought I'd share them with you.
It's very rare to see a Koala drink water, let alone come close to people. Unlike the image they portray of being cute, cuddly and friendly. Koalas can be very nasty and aggressive.
Obviously the heat was just too much for these two Koalas.
If you click on any of the photo's it will take you to a full screen view.

Ahh that feels better, look mum I'm on camera.

I've lived on two of Australia's coastlines, and both were in rural communities and I've never seen anything like this before. Kangaroo's are extremely good swimmers, they'll hold a dog under water without blinking, but I've never seen them on the beaches before for a quik dip.

I hope you Aussie girls are staying cool.

Wow -- thank you SO much for sharing these pictures! Hope it cools down there soon!
I've seen the kangaroo pictures, but not the koala photographs. How amazing, I'm fascinated by the way they're using their hands to hold on. I don't envy you at all, I'd rather have our snow and freezing temperatures any day.
Thank you for sharing the pictures!
Koalas are so cute, and a kangaroo on the beach, must be hot!
Linda, Those are just fantastic photos. I so enjoy seeing wildlife and these are really unusual. I guess animals are just like us, they'll do anything to beat the heat!
Thank you for sharing your photos. So, interesting. I have never seen a kangaroo swim. I hope they get some cooler temps soon.
Wow, how interesting! Thanks for posting. I'm surprised that koalas aren't the friendly animals that you would think. My son has a pic of him holding a koala from when he was in AU last year -- I just assumed they were all like little teddy bears!
Love the koala in the dishpan! Cute. I think the kangaroo is enjoying a day at the beach just try to cool off. Man been hot for you guys!
It's really impressive.
Linda, those are some of the cutest pictures and I can relate with some Aussie's now, living in Texas. I do hope they can stay a little cool.

OH what a great post...very cute and interesting!
Great photos Linda - I have never seen Kangaroos at the beach having a dip! Fortunately, here in Perth our summer has been quite comfortable so far.
South Australia is doing it the hardest followed by Victoria
Last week mid 40's all week 114F
tomorrow is 42C
Lost power at the end of the worst of the heat last Friday. Three hours here. Some people have had days. Is made much worse by the drought and inability to water gardens correctly and have green lawns and trees surrounding the homes. Friday had a searing hot wind that made the garden look like a fire had gone through without the black. Quite horrible.
Then friends send the icy rain photos that come from your part of the world. So all are doing things tough. Queensland is flooded. That is our top state on the left or east side of Australia.
I had not seen the photos before..but the birds are clustering around my pond and I am filling the bird bath each day.
Poor things.
Eternity is looking wonderful.
Those photos are pretty unique - even to us aussies!
It is still 41 here in Central NSW and it is 6pm!
They have the right idea though.
yep darn hot at my place........sick of chasing the hoses watering trying to keep the garden alive...........
What amazing photos! I just love that photo of the koala in the bowl! lol how cute! And i never knew kangaroos could swim! Amazing!
