Threads

I'm hoping to get this top pieced today and ready for machine quilting.

This is the fabric I've bought for the outer border.

I think I'd like to use a subtle variegated thread to machine quilt it with. The only brand I've ever used is Gutermann. Do you have a favorite brand, or is there a brand that you think is better quality?

Being a lover of giraffes I think this is THE CUTEST!!! I'm not a fan of Gutermann. I really like King Tut threads and I think they're by Superior Threads. I've only used their vareigated and it works like a dream.

Hi Linda, I am definitely in the same camp as Stephanie. Being a long arm quilter, I am also not a fan of Gutermann. I use King Tut all the time. They are definitely by Superior and have a wonderful range to choose from. Give them a try, you might find something that goes really well with your sweet animals. Perfect border fabric!

Sometimes I think my machine is the one that decides which is the best thread. I've used Gutermann, Mettler, Coats and Clark as well as Connecting Threads. Just received my first spool of Aurifil, so I am excited to try that. When my machine hums, I know it likes the thread going through. I've been really pleased with Connecting Threads. They have a nice variegated selection

That is just precious! Love the fabric for the border too.

I too am a King Tut fan. I have quilted on 3 different machines and they ALL loved it. Others to try: Aurifil (lighter weight...won't see it as much), Valdani (a bit heavier if you want to see it more). I have even used the Star thread sold at JoAnns with success. I will be looking forward to seeing the end result! CUTE CUTE fab and tops!

I've had mixed results with guterman. But I really have liked aurifil. It's expensive but seems to last longer and it leaves behind hardly any to clog up my machine. I bought a bunch of thread from connecting threads and the price was good and it worked well in my machine but it sure is 'linty' and I have to clean my machine frequently.
That quilt is so cute!!!!

I love the quilt! I don't have any comments on thread as I haven't done enough machine quilting to have an opinion.
