I'm hoping to get this top pieced today and ready for machine quilting.
This is the fabric I've bought for the outer border.
I think I'd like to use a subtle variegated thread to machine quilt it with. The only brand I've ever used is Gutermann. Do you have a favorite brand, or is there a brand that you think is better quality?Happy Stitching

Being a lover of giraffes I think this is THE CUTEST!!! I'm not a fan of Gutermann. I really like King Tut threads and I think they're by Superior Threads. I've only used their vareigated and it works like a dream.
Hi Linda, I am definitely in the same camp as Stephanie. Being a long arm quilter, I am also not a fan of Gutermann. I use King Tut all the time. They are definitely by Superior and have a wonderful range to choose from. Give them a try, you might find something that goes really well with your sweet animals. Perfect border fabric!
Love the giraffe and the border fabric is just perfect!!
I'm another fan of the King Tut threads, I only discovered them recently and I really like them :o).
Hugs,
Joy :o)
What fantastic fabric , that is going to be so good .
Sometimes I think my machine is the one that decides which is the best thread. I've used Gutermann, Mettler, Coats and Clark as well as Connecting Threads. Just received my first spool of Aurifil, so I am excited to try that. When my machine hums, I know it likes the thread going through. I've been really pleased with Connecting Threads. They have a nice variegated selection
You have inspired me to try something different next time I get a chance to do a baby gift. I love your work!

That is just precious! Love the fabric for the border too.
I too am a King Tut fan. I have quilted on 3 different machines and they ALL loved it. Others to try: Aurifil (lighter weight...won't see it as much), Valdani (a bit heavier if you want to see it more). I have even used the Star thread sold at JoAnns with success. I will be looking forward to seeing the end result! CUTE CUTE fab and tops!
I've had mixed results with guterman. But I really have liked aurifil. It's expensive but seems to last longer and it leaves behind hardly any to clog up my machine. I bought a bunch of thread from connecting threads and the price was good and it worked well in my machine but it sure is 'linty' and I have to clean my machine frequently.
That quilt is so cute!!!!
Sew cute! the border fabric looks great...I recommend King Tut too my second choice would be Signature Range they have some lovely variegated colours.
I, too, am a giraffe lover and think that is the cutest quilt top ever. Can't wait to see a finished pic!
Ha, why oh why am I leaving a comment when you asked a machine quilting question?
Oh yes, I love that fabric Linda and I LOVE your giraffe. I have a particularly soft spot for girafe's
Big hugs, lizzie XX
I love the quilt! I don't have any comments on thread as I haven't done enough machine quilting to have an opinion.
This giraffe is just what I have been trying to find for over a year! Did you make the pattern yourself? It is just adorable!!
That is an adorable pattern, and it will be such a cute quilt!
Micki
Cuter than cute!
They must have printed that fabric just for your quilt! It's so perfect. I LOVE your giraffe.
