Online Retail Therapy

I mentioned yesterday that Hancocks of Paducah were having a sale on a selection of charm squares and jelly rolls. What I didn't tell you was that I found a new to me online store that specializes in pre-cut fabrics.
Fabric Square Shop has a terrific selection of pre-cuts, many ranges that I've not seen before. So it can go without saying that I did a little key pushing on my keyboard yesterday afternoon. Now I'm waiting for these two delightful charm packs to arrive.

Add a little touch of some bright and pretty solids and hopefully 2 new baby quilts.

Happy Shopping.

Zippity Do Dah

This little quilt has kept me busy for the past few days. I played with the charm squares Zippity Do Dah, until I was happy with the block.

The machine quilting took less time than the actual piecing. I seem to have fallen into the wavy line quilting rut, but it's one style that I don't stress over and I find it easy and relaxing to do, plus I like the finished effect.
Now listed on my Etsy store.
Hollie's baby shower was a couple of weeks ago and she was totally spoilt with wonderful gifts for her little one. Karla (soon to be MIL) got her a lovely cake.

She finds it difficult when the focus of attention is on her, but she managed very well.

Since the shower I've had a couple of orders for the teddy bears and a couple of other things, so that will keep me busy and out of mischief for a few days.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me.

Happy Stitching.

P.S. I just discovered that Hancocks of Paducah is having a great special on their charm packs.

Merry Monday

My goodness it feels like forever since I've been anywhere near my blog or blog reading for that matter. Thank you for all your well wishes. It seems this nasty bug is doing the rounds of many, fortunately I think I'm on the tail end of it now. After just looking at the number of blog posts that I need to catch up on (790) I think I'll pass and just start with a clean reader. There's no way I could possibly read that many posts, but as I do the rounds I'm sure I'll catch up on all the things that you've all been up to while I was fighting these germs.
Now on to the topic of the post. It's time for a little more inspiration, some ideas for those of you who may still be wondering what you can make for your partner for the swap.

For the table

Star Table Runner

Wool Felt Table Mat

Star Table Runner from one of our German blogging friends.

Ornaments

Cute Felt Ornaments

Felt Snowman Ornament

Snowman Door Hanger

That should give you a few ideas until Stephanie comes back with next weeks list of ideas. Until then.

Happy Stitching.

Yuck

Thank you for all the kind words on Hollie's baby items. I'll be taking a break, my Dh decided it would be a good idea to share his nasty flu germs with me. Hopefully I'll be back on board next week.

The Last Of It

This past week has been a bit of a blur. I've been in the sewing room off and on getting baby sewing finished up to take to Hollie's baby shower today. I had a pattern for a teddy bear so that was first on the list to make up. Pink flowers and no buttons, just soft felt for the eyes and nose.
I whipped up a couple of these outfits and a lovely soft sleeping bag for the cold winter days.
On Thursday I remembered I had a piece of lovely soft cream fleece that was big enough for a blanket. So I set to, to make it a bit prettier than just a piece of plain fabric. (it needs a press)
A pink bunny and multi coloured flowers.
An a lovely pink stripe cut on the bias to bind it with.
So that's it, all done with the baby sewing for now. I haven't spent much time at all on the pc this week so I'm behind on my blog reading, hopefully that will be rectified this coming week.

So now it's time to think about my much ignored quilting that's been waiting patiently for me to return.

Time for me to go and add the cream and strawberries to the pavlova I made for the shower.

Happy Stitching.

Bunnies, Bibs And A Table Runner

Saturday's mail brought a lovely parcel to my mail box from Lizzie in Australia. I was the lucky winner of her table runner.
It's huge, notice it's not on the dining table yet (needs cleaning off first).

Lovely hand quilting and embroidery. Thanks so much Lizzie, once I've done my housework today it will have a new home on the dining table.

I had a little play around with some applique last week on some bibs for Hollie. The photo's not too good, it was taken on one of those wet days last week and I've done a great job of getting my shadow in there. The fabric is a pretty lemon shade.

And every little girl needs a pink Bunny to hug and chew on.
Happy Stitching.

Just a little reminder about once you've received your parcel. I'm sure I don't need to mention this to the group of swappers that we have, but could I please remind you to do a post about the items you receive from your partner. I hate getting emails from upset swappers who's feelings are hurt because their partner didn't bother to do a post about the gifts they received.

Spring Swap Missing Parcels - Do We Have Any Angels?

These three ladies still have not received their Spring Swap parcels Mari, Deb and Betsy. It saddens me to think that their parcel has either gone astray or worse, that a parcel was not sent. I don't enjoy making this sort of post, but I think these ladies have been kept waiting far too long. I know that they have kept their part of the commitment to the swap. If I discover that parcels were in fact not sent I will not hesitate to name publicly, those who failed to keep their commitment to the swap.
So now I am asking if we have three angels who are prepared to step in and complete the swap for these ladies? If this is you please email me at lindaronne@yahoo.com.

Linda

EDIT: Thanks to three lovely angels these swappers won't be going without.

Baby Quilts - On The Toy Shelf

Yesterday I showed you this photo, just a portion of the finished quilt, because I couldn't get a decent photo indoors.

Here's the left hand end.
Well of course several hours later the sun came out, so I was able to take the quilt outdoors and get better photo's. Here's the complete panel of stitchery.
Lovely bright yellow and white squares for the border.
And pretty yellow and white checks for the backing. A variety of yellows and apple greens to make up the nine patch blocks and green quilting thread. Hollie's chosen yellow and green to decorate the baby's room in.
Blowing in the breeze, all washed and ready for Hollie to take home.
Both this quilt and the rabbit quilt I used the spray baste. This quilt was a pleasure to quilt, the rabbits gave me a bit of trouble as the spray wasn't holding like it should have.

Happy Stitching.

I'll leave you with a little sneak peek, no hints because I know someone's watching......

Baby Quilts - Rabbits

I've been waiting for days for the weather to clear We've had rain for well over a week now and trying to take a decent photo when it's dark and dingy inside is almost impossible. I had great plans of pegging the quilts outside to get some nice shots, but that just wasn't going to happen. So you'll have to imagine these photo's were taken outside in lovely sunshine, surrounded by nature. I'll need to wait for better weather for the next quilt as the colours are so bright they just get washed out inside with a flash.
A Couple of weeks ago I showed you this photo. (Click on any of the photo's for a larger view)
It's been added to, with rabbits in the corner looking upward.

To this sleepy girl.

It's been backed with little brown bunnies playing in a garden.

And bordered with a soft green check.
Finished. All washed and ready to give to Hollie.
I had to keep my hands and mind busy while I waited for news on Luke. Hopefully if the weather improves I can show you what I've done with these little fellows.

Happy Stitching.

Answered Prayer

I received a phone call from my mum at 3am this morning, she just couldn't wait for my daylight hours to let me know that Luke was ok, but like all mothers I wanted to hear it from Luke. So I needed to wait until it wasn't the wee small hours in Australia. I've just got off the phone with him, and he sounds fine. Apparently they did a dye test yesterday, and he has a vascular doppler test today, and if all goes well he'll be home this afternoon. All our prayers have been answered. Thank you so much for everyone who has had both him and our family in your prayers, they were all felt, and it was such a comfort to know that we were not alone in all of this.

Linda

Heartfelt Thanks

I am truly humbled by the amazing response to my request for prayers for my son, Luke. I've heard from unknown bloggers, occasional commenter's and the regular ladies who comment. Other bloggers have posted about it on their blogs, while others have their prayer warriors and their churches praying for him, and in all of this I know that my precious son has been lifted up into the very throne room of God. I have felt the loving arms of Jesus wrapped around me, comforting me, and the peace that surpasses all understanding has engulfed me. I know that my God is much bigger than any medical problem known to mankind, and I'm trusting Him for His will in this situation. Please accept this as my heartfelt thanks to you all. Normally I would respond to each and every one of you precious ladies and warriors, but I find at this particular time, I'm just far too emotional and there aren't the words to express my gratitude to you.

As soon as I hear from Jenna I'll keep you updated.

Again thank you and may the Lord bless each and every one of you.

In His Amazing Love

Linda

Urgent Prayer Request

I received a phone call this evening from my daughter Jenna, to let me know that my son, Luke (30) has been admitted into hospital. Apparently he had, had a severe headache for over a week, so he went to his doctor who had him admitted. After a series of tests, they have discovered that he has bleeding on the brain. An MRI is scheduled for tomorrow ( Monday Australian time) to see what the exact problem is and what can be done. Jenna will be phoning me back on Monday afternoon with an update. I'm asking all, who put their faith and trust in our Lord Jesus, to keep my son in your prayers please.
It's moments like this, when I wish I wasn't on the other side of the world. Even if I were able to hop on a plane, it would take at least 36 hours to get to him.

Thank you .

In The Mail

Last week Bonnie did a quick little tutorial on a burp cloth made with a dish cloth, and this is what she showed on her blog (photo borrowed with permission from Bonnie). Now you've got to know that I think it's just adorable.

And (yes I know I shouldn't start a sentence with and) it arrived in my letter box this week, all beautifully wrapped. I'm going to re-wrap it in it's tissue paper for Hollie to open. Thank you so much Bonnie, I think it's just gorgeous and I'm sure Hollie will too.

Vikki and I have been exchanging emails for a few weeks now and she very sweetly sent me a copy of this Aussie magazine and a lovely little bag, filled with Barley Sugars (Australian sweets/candies) and chocolates. I'd forgotten how good Barley Sugars tasted, I think I need to find an Aussie store in the US to buy them from. Thank you Vikki for such a sweet parcel.

I've been working madly on more baby items and will be back next week with a few finishes.
Happy Stitching.
